Propellets

The PROPELLETS project is a global strategic initiative taken at the level of five European countries: Spain, United Kingdom, Finland, Italy and Austria. PROPELLETS' overall aim is to promote automatic pellet heating systems, within different regional scenarios from the European Market, through both the demonstration of the technical-economic feasibility of pilot heating facilities and the integration of acquired experiences.

Work includes: Common methodology; market structures for supply chain at regional level; technical-economic studies for the installation of pilot pellet heating facilities; targeted awareness/educational activities; Result's consolidation and Quality of results; Dissemination-Replication of Results.

Expected results are: wood/agro pellet market stimulation; demonstration of pilot heating systems is order to involve regional markets actors; technology transfer from European to other potential markets inside and outside Europe.

And it is expected a new total installed capacity of 5MW (25 pilot facilities of about 200 kW) which will substitute 34,000 t/year of coal and will avoid the emission of 14,000 tCO2/year.
